Aisle Have One Of Those

DSCF3845

After experiencing the sadness of saying good-bye to two pets within the same week, I find myself giving the little brown dog extra love, attention and treats.

I decided to get her some organic and healthy treats. While those two words would normally scare me away from a product, she really seems to like them!

On my way home from work last night, I stopped to pick up a supply since she gobbled the remaining one that morning. I wandered to the pet food aisle where I know I have found these treats before.

I then found myself standing and staring at the section where they should be. For a matter of minutes, I convinced myself they were there and I just wasn’t seeing them. It has been a tiring week, but still, this seemed like pretty simple shopping.

After a few minutes, I heard God whisper…more of a chuckle…”Rick, you are looking in the cat section!”

I had to laugh as I made my way down the aisle and found what I was looking for. I thought about my friend and writing mentor, Deb and how much she would appreciate these few minutes. Her writing ministry inspires people with doses of humor, chocolate and faith-filled sharing. She even has a new cookbook that even I can use! While browsing the internet aisles today, wonder over to http://www.deboracoty.com

I’m sure you will be encouraged by how she shares her walk of faith, and if like me,  you might notice an increase in your chocolate consumption!

Sometimes on our walk of faith we will find ourselves just standing.

Sometimes on our walk of faith, we simply need to laugh.

At ourselves. Sometimes on my walk of faith, I have been seriously overwhelmed. Yesterday, God reminded me not to take myself so seriously.

It’s ok to just stand.

It’s ok to laugh.

As a gentle witness, my pray for us is to cheerfully share the joy of God’s grace!

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”

Why thank you for the mention, brother Rick! You’re so right – It IS okay to stand; it IS okay to laugh. And I’m pretty sure it’s okay to give the dog cat treats once in a while!

    • My pleasure, sister Deb! I still remember our first phone conversation before writing my first devotional book and how kind you were to guide me in the write direction! Prayers and blessings for your awemazing writing ministry!!

  2. Love this post and the salute to Deb, too, Rick. Your band of writers missed you last night, but Deb made sure we had chocolate in your honor. Laughter does good like a medicine…I could imagine yours in the cat aisle. Is there a poem lurking somewhere near?

    • Thank you! If there is a poem lurking near, we will turn to Dan and wait to see what happens! I missed seeing everyone and of course missed the chocolate! Thank you for your encouragement, prayers and support!
