Some of my most widely read and shared posts are about my ongoing recovery from depression. I shared how I stopped attending church for 3 months and didn’t meet with my band of writers. Just the end of last year, I was reclusive.
Since then, thanks to God, prayers, family, friends and my team of medical professionals I am back, as I like to say, in the world. Feels good, being in the world.
During my hermitage, I started to follow several different blogs and now on some days, I wonder how I find the time to read each post. I talked with God about this and realize that we will find time to do what we enjoy…and also what is important. My view of the world is changing because of these writers…because of who they are…where they live…and what they write about on their journey of faith.
I have talked with people who only follow blogs written by people they agree with. I don’t agree with every writer I follow but that doesn’t stop me from learning from them and expanding my awareness. Only following writers we agree with is in a way of being reclusive….there is more out there.
God calls us to be in the world and to share our gifts. I would like to thank each blog writer I follow for their writing and the sharing of their journey.
There is something else God and I talked about today…along the lines of sharing. God loves us so much, He shared Jesus with us! We are also called to share God’s Good News with our hurting world and those spiritually seeking.
I fall short in this area. Looking back, I see opportunities I missed to be a gentle witness for a spiritually seeking person. I missed the opportunity to hear about their walk…and didn’t get to share mine. As I work to become a healthier person, I’m not going to beat myself up about these missed opportunities but I am going to use them as wonderful reminders as I walk forward in faith.
Called to be in the world.
Called to share God’s Good News.
My prayer for us tonight is to ask God to open our hearts and eyes to see where He guides us to be a gentle witness. Such wonderful gifts we have to share! Such wonderful people we have yet to meet! Listen to them….then listen some more. Then, gently share how Jesus guides your walk and ask them to join you.
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”
– James 3: 17-18
