God Knows

This weekend, I was faced with a situation I don’t understand. I’m not sure I ever will but as I talked with God about my confusion, He whispered, “I’ve got this.”

As I sit here this morning with my little brown dog and the strongest coffee I can make, God gives me the word: acceptance.

God helps me realize we are not made to understand everything. I am gradually starting to see how acceptance in such situations is so important. In prayer, if not guided to change the situation, acceptance and trust in God is where we can find peace.

God grants us free will. I could start my week confused and upset or I can start my week in peace. Thanking God for having this situation in His loving hands. It might be a long time before understanding is revealed to me. God will determine when and where that will take place.

My prayer for us is not to get stuck on what we cannot understand. Talk with God about such issues and ask for guidance and ask God to reveal anything we might be missing. Ask God if there is anything in this situation He wants us to do or say.

If in prayer, you see you are doing all you can do, ask God for the peace of acceptance and thank God for whispering, “I’ve got this.” Which reminds me of being a little guy in Sunday school learning, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

– Psalm 19: 14

A wonderful message on acceptance. Your writing led me to look up the serenity prayer and for the first time I saw that there’s actually more to this prayer than that which we customarily see. I find this prayer to be even more comforting in it’s entirety. Thank you, Rick.
    Serenity Prayer
    Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.”

    • I often write how I believe comments beautifully “complete” a post.
Thank you, for sharing this wonderful and often over-looked “rest of the” prayer. The complete prayer is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your walk of faith with us and your discovery of where God guided you!

Wonderful encouragement! Often we spend to much time trying to figure God out ( which we can never do) instead of just accepted what He allows! How true God Got It!!

This reminds me of the lyrics by NEEDTOBREATHE in their song Valley of Tomorrow. “I’ll never second guess that little voice I heard, was just a whisper that sounded like a scream.”

    • “…a whisper that sounded like a scream.” Thank you for sharing this song connection and for being here as we continue to discover God’s grace. God will whisper to us!

Great post Rick. It reminds me of the Jeremy Camp song “He Knows.” Check it out of you aren’t familiar with it. Keep being a blessing! 💞
