Will Do

As we approach Christmas, it gives us time to reflect on this year and the year ahead. It is a wonderful time of year to invite people to join you in church, especially those spiritually seeking and without a church home.

It is also a good time to talk with God about His will for the year ahead. Perhaps there will be a new calling or new direction for our lives. God’s whisper will guide us providing we take the time to quiet ourselves and listen, which as you know, has always been one of my personal challenges. Prayer is two-fold: praying and listening.

Understanding is the reward given by faith. Do not try to understand in order to believe, but believe in order to understand.”

Finding time in quiet. I think this will be my New Years resolution. I will just get a leg up and start early. This past year my mantra for this year was “slow down”. I like 2017’s to be “finding quiet”. Beautiful post.

So true. Turning the tv off is so easy for me. For many many years I was not “allowed” to watch it. That’s the past though. Now my struggle is being asked to do something…or to go somewhere…and saying “No”. I am learning to do just that. Reminds me of the saying “Waiting in the wings”..before an actor takes stage. The most peaceful times of anyone’s life will be the times we spend alone…In prayer…Reading His word. Sitting quietly. Not even reading a devotional or listening to worship music…just us and God. Every time my father gives everything I need for that moment and the moments to come. He cherishes our time we “give up”…and even our desires that we are willingly to give to Him. I wonder when He says He’s a jealous God…if that is what He’s saying! God is a good God. Thank you for sharing this. Such a sweet reminder!

    • So glad you are here with us as we discover and share God’s grace. Your pursuit of time with God is awesome and something that I think we strive for, but personally, often fall short. The result as you say is simply beautiful: “the most peaceful times of anyone’s life….”
I appreciate your blog and how you share your walk of faith!

  3. I have found that spending my time praying for other people lifts the burdens of my own heart. When I spend my time praying for myself, something always feels missing. So, I have been resolving to give my prayers to others.

    • Thank you so much for being here with us! Wonderful comment! Praying for others is so important! There are times when I will ask for communal prayer. So much power in prayer. God hears every whisper. Your prayers for others are being heard! I enjoy your blog and how you share your walk of faith!
